That is a complex issue.
The knowledge of abstraction as a theme in every generation, for the many feats in medicine, innovation, technology require a trust in the giants of history. The systems put in play to preserve knowledge we know and trust as crucial to our species longevity. That what has been put in motion by our predecessors is in fact all essential work.
However, the classification of what is critical to non- critical and the evolution of that space over time, along with the voices of privilege in the room advocating for what may in fact not be necessary for human longevity or environmental sustainability, but conforms to a particular sub-culture of seeking to distract.
Is a thing.
The age of distraction and wastage in the many systems we take for granted.
As, we essentially still have some breathing room to err in regard to detriment to ecosystems.
Trust in the systems that have been incorporated into our “sacred” historical data sets and systems. That provide a backbone to order itself; while also acknowledging, we are now incorporating software packages (such as LLM’s) with known errors in truth depiction and interpretation into our core data centre/ cloud “brain trusts” contributing to intergenerational distraction, in a form of modern-day propaganda.
What core knowledge does the next generation need to feel empowered enough to contribute while also aware of complexities.
There is and always will be a risk of human intelligence decreasing or a further disengagement in the systems pertaining to order.
Depending on the structure of social and economic duty to statehood in terms of education requirements, and how the populous develops a level of transparency to the many systems pertaining to stability, along with an awareness of the systems at a level beyond the state level. Also factoring in that there may be governing bodies in the future who aim for the majority to have abstraction regarding the governing systems of said society.
This is why such uprisings as the Arab spring result in ten years of turmoil, generally, the systems pertaining to order the people were not privy to. The many reasons why disruption of the system is the power the people have, while the government holds the knowledge on what keeps the societal order running – however disproportionate it is in equitable access to service provision.
So again, there is that fear of what a highly educated populous equates to, say maybe more government control, say as may be the case in China, or keeping the intellectuals poor as may be the case in Australia.
Not empowering your population with education pertaining to varying industry and system creation is in effect creating a power hold, that once broken shall see an ongoing entropy of humanism in the landscape of survival.
The impact of data storage on societal creation, for now after the Afghan war the one thing to be left behind unreported on was the datacentre, while the held narrative in reported news highlighted weapons left behind for “the enemy” to use.
So, we accept we need a level of data storage for societal function, but where is the line.
The line that has been crossed numerous times already that can in fact be a learning curve for nations starting this data machine journey.
We accept the “Halo” of health medicine is something that has been created for the future, but also lack the trust of the Forbes rich list to guide us.
“Don’t you know how much I am worth, why would I care about ethics!”
That statement as it has echoed from the voice of human ego through the ages.
To, you know, reinforce the “trust” we must have in the wealthiest business leaders of the world.
Yet they contribute to “global stability”.
Yet stability does not necessarily equate to longevity; longevity requires ongoing stochastic factors and dynamic inputs, as a fixed state leads to stagnation. What is acceptable as random inputs to a state of order once achieved for peace, while factoring in peace can never be a fixed state.
Such as how becoming a Nobel Peace prize winner can be correlated to jail time.
Well human rights and an ongoing need to know what we would forgo rights for.
That dance is endless and ongoing.
While abstraction compounds intergenerationally, as say how we can apply incomplete equation of Gödel to prove a larger system without unpacking the method or understanding the theorem itself.
PS. While also keeping in mind that the illegal intoxicant industry is also part and parcel of national defense and therefore the humans within the illicit drug industry are potentially managed by the same human capital management organization as the nation’s defense.
PPS. So in theory it is only ethical to legalize elicit drugs such as marijuana and cocaine, using paper, pen and ink, non digital records within logistics and bookkeeping for the longevity of humanism.
